About Us

I’m Tami — half of the team behind Fox Trail Craftworks. I’ve spent nearly ten years in the fire protection industry, following a decade in teaching. Two things became crystal clear during that time: how vital this work is, and how often it flies under the radar.
Even within the trade, there’s a surprising knowledge gap. Volunteering with the Florida Fire Sprinkler Association — including events like Tagging for Success — showed me just how many misconceptions exist about sprinklers, even among professionals. It struck me how rarely people think about these systems at all, and how few ways there are for families or professionals to show pride in the work they do every day.

That gap became my motivation. The teacher in me wanted to create pieces that spark curiosity, start conversations, and turn overlooked life safety components into something worth celebrating. What began with playful ideas — like string lights, nightlights, and building block kits — has grown into a line of novelties that blend education and pride. One highlight? Our mini building block kits were featured in the FFSA’s Do You Know? campaign and at their booth at the NFPA Expo.

Our process combines craftsmanship and creativity. Chris — the other half of Fox Trail Craftworks — brings his bladesmithing experience and 3D modeling skills to every design. Each piece starts with research: studying real fire protection components and re‑imagining them in scaled‑down, approachable ways. We prototype through 3D printing, refine details until they’re just right, and sometimes take it further with electroforming — coating pieces in copper and finishing with nickel plating for realistic weight and detail.

While Chris focuses on precision, I lean into playfulness — turning industry pride into meaningful novelties and teachable moments. Some projects even bridge our two worlds, like Damascus knives forged from reclaimed sprinkler pipe or heirloom Go Mai blades created for life safety leaders.
